Calling all brides…Photographix is having another contest!

We had so much fun when we had our first contest so we decided we would step it up a notch and see how creative you can be  Beware…THIS IS HUGE and you will have to work at it!  Having a destination wedding and want to be a Photographix client?!?!  If you get us there (travel and lodging required) we will give you up to 12 hours of wedding day coverage for FREE!

Please review our requirements for this contest…

1.  We must be available for your date!  We will not double book a wedding here and a destination wedding

2.  You may live here in TN but the wedding must be in another state (country…oh yes, we will go anywhere!).

3.  Please DO NOT enter this contest if you already have a photographer!  Please be honest…we don’t want to offend nor hurt anyones feelings and want to be fair

4.  There will be a couple of rounds to this contest.  First round will be picked by Photographix.  We will pick approximately 3-5 couples for the final round.    Second round will be voted on by all your family and friends.

5.  Submit the following information

- Date of wedding/reception

- Names of bride & groom (with a couple of fun pictures of you guys!)

- Location of wedding (please provide website)

- Number in bridal party and guest attending

- Briefly explain why you entered this contest and why you want Photographix to document your special day

- Most importantly please provide a detailed story of your soon to be wedding…how everything will look, etc.

If chosen Photographix and the winner will sign a contract to guarantee the date.  Remember travel and lodging (minimum of 3 or 4 days depending on location of wedding) will be the clients responsibility.  Please, please do not enter this contest if you are unsure about paying travel and lodging fees so that another entrant will have a full chance at winning

We met Jessica and David a little different way than we meet most of our clients. Ann and I were attending a luncheon/silent auction for cystic fibrosis and we were giving away a free session to bid on. Well Jessica and David bid on us and won! We were secretly hoping it would be them  Jessica introduced herself to us at lunch and said she was placing a bid. We thought she was oh so stylish and cute and said a little prayer to the silent auction fairies and it was answered! It was coming up on their 1 year anniversary so not only did we get to do some fun casual shots, but they brought their wedding attire so we got to photograph them in those as well. Jessica and David make one of the cutest couples ever. They are both musicians (not the kind that “everybody in Nashville is”, but the REAL kind ), and so super nice. A little somethin’ somethin’ about David & Jessica:

David Dorn was born in rural South Carolina playing traditional gospel music. He made the move to Nashville to finish his college degree at Belmont University where he was a piano major.  Since graduation, David has gone on to open up his production company, Red Reel Productions. He plays for and produces numerous artists and songwriters from Nashville and across the country.   When he is not in the studio, he is co-writing and playing live shows with fellow band members of Calico Trail, his wife Jessica Roadcap, and various other artists. Jessica Roadcap was born and raised in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley. The twenty-two year old singer-songwriter moved to Nashville in 2005 to attend Belmont University, and by December of 2008, she had earned her bachelor’s degree in music business.  She is currently planning for the June 15th release of her debut album, “Dance in a Hurricane,” to the Country/Americana music scene.  Each of the eleven songs featured on the album, written solely by Jessica or co-written with others, is performed passionately with a style that is all her own.  ”No one can seem to put a finger on who I sound like,” Jessica says. “I’m often a product of a blender… Until I moved to Nashville, I didn’t appreciate the fact that I was different. I am different. Jen and I always get the same question about how does someone pick their photographer.  What do you ask…what is important to know?  So here you have it…Selecting the perfect photographer for your occasion!  Here are a few simple tips to making your day or session GREAT!

1.  Find the style or type of photography you are drawn to.  Is it traditional, classic, photojournalistic or the old school look?  Is it images that are bold, colorful and saturated or just a simple black and white that is more dramatic?

2.  Schedule a consultation to find your perfect match.  Whether you meet with 10 photographers or just 1, you need to make sure you are ultimately comfortable with them!  Nobody wants to spend the day or session with someone that you are unsure about…client or photographer!

3.  Look at more of their work including albums, prints, and other products.  Make sure that the quality is what you are expecting from them.

4.  Ask about their photographic accomplishments.  You would be amazed by what you might not know about your potential photographer!

5.  When you hire your photographer, keep in touch with them over the weeks or months leading up to your event.  Have meetings, talk via email or go have coffee to chat.  Clients are NOT just clients…they are friends!  Everyone loves to be in the loop and this helps builds your new friendship.  More than likely if your experience is great, you will be working together again in the future.

When we sit down at our consults this is usually what we find out about you!  What style you like, end product expectations and mostly if we all get along There is a photographer for everyone so don’t be afraid to find them!
