Jen Cook and Ann Carroll shoot photos that reflect their own nature—light and airy, sweet and sensitive.

The two women who teamed their Canons nine years ago specialize in weddings, family, mitzvahs and boudoir photography. Their studio in Westhaven Town Center in Franklin is a light filled, bright and a happy place—-much like the photographers themselves.

The pair’s photos have appeared in “People”, “Country Weekly”, “US Weekly”, “Southern Exposure Magazine” and “West Franklin Living”, to name a few. Their client list includes celebrities like Rascal Flatts, Ronnie Dunn, John Rich, Sara Evans, Kings of Leon, politicians and lots of everyday folks celebrating special moments and occasions.

“We shoot most everything, except boudoir, outside,” says Cook. “We love the natural light and prefer capturing people, places and events in that warm glow it provides. Of, course we shoot weddings within churches and event venues, but even for those, we like moving our brides and grooms and families outside for portrait shots.”

The pair, both alumni of Watkins Art and Design, added boudoir photography to their specialties a half dozen years ago.

“We had sort of a random request from a friend, so we shot her and had so much fun in the staging, shooting and the results, that we have added that category to our work,” said Carroll.

Their studio at Westhaven has a loft styled apartment suite section with huge windows. The bedroom furnishings are “girly and gorgeous” said the photographers.

“We have so much fun with this portion of our business,” said Cook. “We love making every woman feel beautiful and special. Our boudoir business attracts women of all ages. Often the finished photographs are gifts for husbands or boyfriends.”

In addition to weddings and mitzvahs, the pair also specialize in family photography.

“We love capturing the essence of a family, their personalities, their inner as well as outer selves,” said Carroll. “We cherish our own families and fully realize the joy and love that fills the hearts of those we photograph. It’s our goal to portray that, not just a staged gathering.”

Cook and her husband, Daniel, have three-year-old twins, a boy and a girl . Carroll and her husband, Brandon, have a 16-year-old son and a six-year-old daughter. Both families live in Spring Hill.

The photographers met when they were classmates at Watkins.

“We lived near each other and decided to car pool back home once during a snow storm,” said Cook. “The 20-minute drive turned into 8 hours. We became business partners after graduation. We’ve been together ever since.”

Photographix specializes in albums, wall prints and canvas pieces. Discs of images can be purchased, giving clients access to all images for their own personal use.

The photographers pursue their art full time.

“We’re work wives,” they joke.

When they’re not capturing beautiful memories for their clients, they’re busy making their own with their husbands and children.
